ENERGY SAFETY INSTITUTE – EXPERT AND COMMUNICATIONS PARTNER OF THE EXHIBITION «CHORNOBYL. 40 YEARS AFTER. A STORY THAT OBLIGES US».
The Public Union «Energy Safety Institute» has joined the organisation of the art and technology exhibition «Chornobyl. 40 years after. A story that obliges us».
The exhibition is organised by the State Exclusion Zone Management Agency of Ukraine (SEZMA) with financial support from the European Union. The strategic partners of the project are the Energy Safety Group, the Complex «Toronto-Kyiv» and DSA. The Public Union «Energy Safety Institute» and the Ukrainian Nuclear Society acted as expert and communications partners.
The project, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, served as a platform for reflecting on the history of the accident and its significance for the modern understanding of nuclear safety, a culture of responsibility, and preparedness for new challenges. The exhibition’s concept was structured around three thematic spaces – the past, the present and the future – which allowed us to trace the path from the memory of the tragedy to the practical solutions that shape safety today.
The role of the public Union «Energy Safety Institute» was to provide expert guidance on the content of the exhibition. The team worked on the informational content of the exhibition, advised on the preparation of materials and helped to integrate into the exhibition space a professional context related to the development of a safety culture, international approaches to responding to major accidents and contemporary risks to nuclear infrastructure. It was precisely the involvement of industry expertise that enabled the project’s educational component to be strengthened and the historical theme to be presented through the prism of current safety challenges.
Among the project’s strategic partners, Energy Safety Group presented a dedicated exhibition stand focused on the lessons learned from severe nuclear accidents, particularly the experience of the Chornobyl disaster and the evolution of safety approaches in the nuclear industry. The exhibit showed how these lessons have been integrated into modern engineering solutions, emergency preparedness systems, and international risk management practices.
For the «Energy Safety Institute», participation in such initiatives is an important part of its professional activities. Combining expert knowledge, technical experience and public dialogue helps to shape an understanding of how these lessons should be applied in the modern context – for the safety of the industry, society and future generations.
